Techniques for Boxing Up Traditional Pianos and Digital Keyboards
When it comes to relocating pianos, the keys should be secured to prevent hammers and action movement, while the pedals should be wrapped individually to protect against scratches or dents. Pianos’ legs and any protruding elements, if detachable, should be removed and packed separately with ample cushioning.
Digital keyboards and synthesizers, with their electronic components, should be powered down and unplugged. If the item has a detachable stand or pedals, disassemble and wrap them separately. The keys on digital keyboards can be protected with bubble wrap or foam padding to ensure they don’t suffer impact or pressure.
For all keyboards, using a hard case or specialized padded bag that fits the instrument’s dimensions is ideal. If placed inside a box, make sure there’s ample padding on all sides, using materials like bubble wrap or foam. Additionally, pay heed to any power cables, adapters, or associated electronics, as these should be coiled neatly, secured with ties, and packed alongside the object.
